On Saturday night, pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather did what many thought he would do and which was defeat long time rival Manny Pacquiao to unify the WBA, WBC and WBO Welterweight titles but most importantly cement his legacy as the number one fighter of his era.

The judges for this bout were all experienced veterans and had the scores as follows: Glenn Feldman (Connecticut) 116-112, Burt Clements (Nevada) 116-112 and Dave Moretti (Nevada) 118-110

Judges Feldman and Clements coincided in every round giving Manny rounds 4, 6, 9 and 10. Moretti had it a bit differently as he did not give rounds 9 and 10 to Pacquiao. Overall, the judges did an excellent job of officiating despite being under strenuous amounts of pressure from the sports world.

This writer scored comfortably from home and had it 116-113 for Mayweather who took advantage of his 5 inch reach advantage by throwing a jab that for most of the fight made Pacquiao's attacks very ineffective and made them keep the fight on the outside which strongly favored the bigger Mayweather. Though Pacquiao did have moments of 'vintage' Pacman throwing strong flurries of combinations Floyd's way, they came very seldom. By the second half Mayweather put on his running shoes and dominated the remainder of the fight with sideways movements and strong counter-punches like the author had predicted earlier in the week. After the fight it was learnt that Pacquiao had suffered an injury three weeks before May 2nd in his right shoulder which some say explains why he connected only 19% of his punches thrown.
