Amir Khan has once again been linked with a fight against Floyd Mayweather but in reality it looks unlikely that the fight will take place.

Mayweather has stated that his next (and last) fight will be in September but Khan, who is a devout Muslim, cannot fight in September as his training camp would clash with Ramadan.

Even if Mayweather can be tempted into another fight in 2016 it looks unlikely that Khan will be his opponent with the preferred opponent being a rematch with Manny Pacquiao after the Filipino returns from surgery on the shoulder injury he picked up in training for last weekend's fight.

The only way Khan could get the fight with Mayweather is if he can convince "Money" to put the fight back to November or December but that seems unlikely because Floyd always fights in May or September as he likes to fight around the Mexican holiday's of "Cinco de Mayo" and "Mexican Independence Day."

The last time Mayweather fought outside those dates was when he beat Khan's fellow Briton, Ricky Hatton in December 2007. However, we saw during the negotiations for the Pacquiao fight that Mayweather likes to call the shots and it is expected he will fight again in September. Whether Khan is in the opposite corner or not won't matter to the American as he knows he is the one the fans will be paying to watch in what could be the final chapter of his perfect career.
