Mitch McConnell Wins Re-election In Kentucky

Republican Incumbent Mitch McConnell won reelection in Kentucky's US Senate race on Tuesday night by a 56-40 margin over Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes, according to CNN.

McConnell is poised to become Senate Majority Leader if the Republicans can gain control of the US Senate. The Republicans are expected to gain control of the Senate and retain control of the House when all the voting is done.

The 16 point margin of victory is McConnell's highest since 2002 when he won by 29% over Lois Combs Weinberg. McConnell has been in the US Senate since 1984. He is the fourth-most senior Republican Senator and 7th-most senior Senator.
