On Friday night, the Gwinnett Braves hosted the Charlotte Knights in a regular-season matchup at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The Gwinnett Braves are the Atlanta Braves' Triple-A affiliate and the Charlotte Knights are the Chicago White Sox' Triple-A affiliate. It was clear skies at game-time, as there were eight mile per hour winds going right-to-left. First pitch was a minute before scheduled game-time, taking place at 7:04 PM ET.

The Charlotte Knights (62-78) sent Taiwanese right-handed pitcher Chien-Ming Wang to the mound to face Gwinnett Braves (62-76) starting pitcher, right-hander Aaron Northcraft. Coming into the game, Wang was 12-8 with a 4.19 ERA with the Knights and the Cincinnati Reds' Triple-A affiliate in Louisville, where he was 8-5 with a 3.70 ERA in 19 games (all starts). Northcraft was 0-6 with a 6.23 ERA with Gwinnett, but was 7-3 with a 2.88 ERA in 13 games (12 starts) with the Braves' Double-A affiliate in Mississippi.

To lead off the first against Northcraft and the Braves, the Knights sent left-handed hitting designated hitter Jared Mitchell to the plate. Mitchell worked the count to 3-and-2, ultimately leading off the game with a walk, and this walk wouldn't be the last one given up by the Braves' staff on Friday night.

Next to bat came right-handed hitting second baseman Marcus Semien. While Semien was at the plate, Mitchell attempted to steal second base off of Northcraft. This attempt was unsuccessful as Gwinnett catcher Steve Lerud gunned him down at second.

After this, Northcraft would walk both Semien and left-handed hitting center fielder Jordan Danks to set up first and second with only one out. However, Northcraft would get out of this jam, getting right-handed hitting catcher Josh Phegley to ground out into a 5-4-3 double play to end the half inning.

Wang started out the bottom half with a strikeout to Jose Constanza and a walk to Todd Cunningham. The walk to Cunningham would be the last base-runner allowed to reach base until the sixth inning. Wang got Christian Bethancourt to ground out into a 6-4-3 double play to get out of the jam.

To start out the second inning, Northcraft walked both Andy Wilkins and Moises Sierra before getting Matt Davidson and Michael Taylor to fly out. However, with two outs, Wilkins moved up to third on Davidson's fly out and Sierra stole second base. Justin Jirshele came through big with a two-RBI single, moving up to second on a throw to home. To follow that up, Mitchell doubled and drove in Jirshele.

To end all the scoring, Semien launched a two-run home run, his fourteenth home run with Charlotte and the fourteenth home run given up by Northcraft all season. Northcraft would strikeout Danks to end the top of the second inning, but not before Charlotte scored five runs on three hits. Northcraft had five allowed walks through two innings of work.

Northcraft would be knocked out of the game after the fourth inning, as his final line was the following: 4 IP, 3 H, 5 R/ER, 7 BB, 2 K, 1 HR (78 pitches/42 strikes)

Left-handed pitcher Daniel Rodriguez came in to pitch for the Braves. Rodriguez and Northcraft were not the focus of the game through five innings. Charlotte pitcher Chien-Ming Wang had not allowed a hit through the first five innings, only allowing a walk back in the first inning.

After getting right-handed hitting shortstop Elmer Reyes to strike out swinging, Wang allowed a double to Lerud to end the no-hitter.

The rest of the scoring is as follows for Charlotte: Michael Taylor hit a solo home run (his 11th of the season) in the 6th inning and Andy Wilkins hit a solo home run (his league-leading 30th of the season) in the 9th inning

Chien-Ming Wang was knocked out of the game in the eighth inning after giving up a double to Ozzie Martinez that scored Brandon Boggs and Elmer Reyes. Wang's final line was as follows: 7.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R/ER, 2 BB, 5 K (104 pitches/70 strikes)

In to relieve Wang was right-handed pitcher Taylor Thompson. Thompson allowed a single to Cunningham and then struck out Bethancourt with runners on first and third to end the inning.

Charlotte would go on the win the game, a game that took three hours and four minutes to finish. Gwinnett's pitching staff tied a season-high when they walked ten batters. Chien-Ming Wang picked up his thirteenth win of the season, as Northcraft lost his seventh game with Gwinnett. The Knights scored seven runs, on six hits and no errors. The Braves scored two runs, on seven hits and one error.
