The Fort Wayne TinCaps are off to the hottest start since they became the Fort Wayne TinCaps which was back in 2009. In the 2009 season, the TinCaps went on to win the Midwest League championship. That championship team was able to start the season 11-1. The 2016 TinCaps have a lot of talent both on offense, and they also have a lot of pitching talent.

Many players off to a hot start

So far this season, the TinCaps have a lot of the top prospects in the San Diego Padres farm system. Austin Allen, who is off to a very hot start for the TinCaps, was recently named to the MLB Pipeline Prospect Team of the Week.

Through thirteen games, the twenty two year old is batting .522 with one home run, three RBI's, twelve runs, and a very impressive twenty four hits. Luis Tejada, who has been a familiar face for the TinCaps over the past couple seasons is also off to a very hot start to the season. Tejada is currently leading the Midwest League in RBI's with fifteen. Tejada's fifteen RBI's is also currently second among all of the classes of Minor League Baseball.

One of the brightest Padres for the future at only nineteen years old is Ruddy Giron. Giron is also a familiar face for TinCaps fans. He joined the team for part of the season last year and is back with the TinCaps this season and is also off to a pretty good start to this season. Giron has eleven hits, with three of those being doubles. He has also batted in 6 runs. Overall, the TinCaps are just loaded with good batters throughout the whole lineup to start the season. They also have plenty of good prospects in terms of pitching.

Logan Allen, a starting pitcher for the TinCaps, has a 2-0 record on the season so far and also only has an ERA of 0.90. Allen has also recorded eleven strikeouts on the season. Jean Cosme is also one of the many good prospects for the TinCaps. Like Allen, Cosme is also 2-0 on the season so far. He has also recorded an impressive twelve strikeouts on the season so far. Austin Smith is also supposed to develop into a very good pitcher. Although he is 0-1 on the season he has shown some very impressive things while on the mound.

TinCaps keep winning series

Over the last three series the TinCaps have won all three of those series. That is overall a huge part of the success this season. If they can keep that up and maintain that for most of the season they will basically be guaranteed a spot in the Midwest League playoffs.

Finishing off road trip

The Fort Wayne TinCaps started their seven game road trip on Monday night in Lansing when they played the Lansing Lugnuts. The TinCaps were able to win that game and also won the final game of the three game series with the Lugnuts. The TinCaps took two out of three games. Thursday night the TinCaps began a four game series with the South Bend Cubs. After the series with South Bend, the TinCaps will head back home to face the Peoria Chiefs.
