J.A. Happ was taken off the field in a stretcher in the second inning of the Blue Jays vs. Rays game on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old pitcher was struck on the left side of his head by a line drive hit by Desmond Jennings.  Medical personnel rushed to Happ's aid, who carefully hoisted him a stretcher, with his head immobilized, and rolled under the stands after an 11-minute delay. Upon leaving the field, Happ faintly lifted his right hand as a sign of consciousness.

According to Shi Davidi, Happ was conscious while being taken to the hospital. There is no word on his current condition.

Jennings reached third on the play, scoring two runs to give Tampa Bay a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second.
