He's not Yu Darvish. He's not Max Scherzer. And no, he's not Clayton Kershaw.

Out of guesses? Okay it's Mark Buehrle. The 35 year old Buehrle pitching for the Toronto Blue Jays?

It's an unusual headline, but Mark Buehrle has been turning heads ever since he set foot on the mound for his first start of the 2014 season. In four starts, he's won them all. In 28 innings he's given up a mere two runs, and only five walks. To say Buehrle is the hottest pitcher in the league right now would be an understatement.

The Toronto Blue Jays are also off to a surprising 10-8 start, which doesn't exactly scream dominance, but in a division that holds the likes of the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays, credit must be awarded. Which brings us back to Buehrle. After getting off to a lackluster start last season with his new club in Canada, Buehrle ended the 2013 season on a hot streak. He found his groove and ended the season with a 12-10 record and 4.15 ERA. Once again, not the prettiest of stats but overall not an overly disappointing season either, all this with the Blue Jays heavily under achieving and missing the playoffs.

What makes this start so special for Buehrle is taking into consideration the type of pitcher he is. When a pitcher ages, he tends to lose mileage on his arm and specifically his fastball. It's just part of the norm. But even so Buehrle was never known as a fireballer or a pitcher that can rack up strikeouts. What he has to his advantage is working extremely quick and efficiently while on the mound, and terrific command of his pitches. His location so far has been spot on, which is evident considering his WHIP which is an outstanding 0.93 at the moment. He's also been holding opposing batters to a .210 batting average, also very impressive.

Moving forward, it's unreasonable to expect Buerhle to continue this pace. Some regression is going to take place sooner or later, but it's undoubtedly exciting for Blue Jays fans to see him pitch like this. Regardless of what happens in his next few starts, Buehrle is turning heads for all the right reasons and at the age of 35, it makes it even more inspiring.
