Robertson notches the save
4/6/14: David Robertson gets Melky Cabrera to line out to right field to complete the save

The New York Yankees activated their closer David Robertson off the disabled list and he will be available for tonight's opening series against the Boston Red Sox.

Robertson sustained a Grade one strain to his groin on April 6 while closing out the game against the Toronto Blue Jays.  He is 2-for-2 in saves after appearing in three games before the injury this season.  He is 21-14 with a 2.74 ERA and 10 saves in his major league career.  Robertson is replacing Yankees legendary closer Mariano Rivera.

Robertson spent time at the Yankees spring training site in Tampa, Florida rehabbing.  Following a throwing session over the weekend he informed the team that he was ready to join them in Boston.

Shawn Kelley was closing games for the Yankees while Robertson was injured.  He picked up four saves during that time with a 1.86 ERA.  Kelley will now assume the eighth inning set-up role.

To make room on the roster for Robertson the Yankees sent left-hander Cesar Cabral to Triple-A Scranton/WIlkes-Barre.
