The Arizona Diamondbacks continued their hot start to the second half of the season, defeating the Detroit Tigers 5-4 Tuesday night. The win marked the D-backs' fourth win in five games.

The bats were going early for both teams as Miguel Cabrera gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a RBI single off Chase Anderson. Aaron Hill tied the game in the bottom half on a long solo home run to left field off Rick Porcello.

Chase Anderson crossed up Miguel Montero in the third inning by throwing a curveball rather than a fastball on the inside corner, resulting in a wild pitch and Austin Jackson scoring. That was all Anderson allowed through his six innings of work, a quality outing for him after a long break from his last start. Aaron Hill once again tied the game in the bottom of the inning with a sacrifice fly. Hill drove in his third run in the sixth inning with a RBI groundout. Rick Porcello also threw a quality start, allowing the three earned runs in seven innings.

The eighth inning was not only where the D-backs relinquished the lead, but where Brad Ziegler was struck in the chest by a line drive off the bat of J.D. Martinez, that was recorded at 105 mph. Ziegler stayed in the game to give up the two run single to Torii Hunter that gave Detroit a 4-3 lead. Miguel Montero saved the game with his clutch two run single in the bottom of the eighth.

Trevor Cahill will make his second start since spending some time in the minors, looking to build on his solid start his last time out. Anibal Sanchez will be the opposing pitcher in the matinee rubber match.
