It may have taken four and a half hours, but the Arizona Diamondbacks prevailed to earn a 2-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds Monday night.

Rookie shortstop Nick Ahmed hit the game winning RBI single off J.J. Hoover in the fifteenth inning. The other two runs of offense in the game came in the second and fourth inning on a Devin Mesoraco solo homer and Miguel Montero RBI single.

The lack of offense from both teams squandered two fantastic starts from Chase Anderson and Homer Bailey. Anderson threw seven innings, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out eight. As for Bailey, he pitched eight innings allowing just five hits.

Both teams will meet again in game two of the series on Tuesday, where Trevor Cahill and Mike Leake will duel against one another.
