Another July 31st is in the books, filled with trade deadline drama. The Giants however did not partake in any of said drama, although fans might have wished they did the exact opposite.

While the crosstown club traded away their best power hitter, the Giants decided it was best to not make a move that could end up hurting more than helping. GM Brian Sabean reaffirmed his stance on trades many times today, essentially deciding that no prospect or player in his ball club was worth anybody available on the trade market. This however does not mean he won't explore options on the waiver wire, as he has done in the past.

There are still a handful of issues that needed to be addressed, and they will seem to be addressed internally. Outfielder Tyler Colvin, who has been serving as the team's backup outfielder was optioned on Wednesday evening. The rumors apparently included recently-signed Dan Uggla in the mix of optioned players, however nothing came to fruition. He however has not boarded the plane to New York, where the Giants will start their next road trip.

The Giants may soon see the return of Brandon Belt (concussion) and Angel Pagan (back). Pagan is busy rehabilitating in the Arizona League, and Belt has been getting back into a baseball routine and is said to be game-ready by the weekend. If all goes well with both, this will be first time since early May that the Giants have fielded their starting day lineup.
