The San Diego Padres have announced that former All-Star Trevor Hoffman will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame in a pregame ceremony to be held on August 30th. Hoffman will be the ninth member of the team's Hall of Fame which includes Tony Gwynn, Jerry Coleman and Dave Winfield.

Hoffman played in San Diego for 16 seasons, and racked up 552 saves in a Padres uniform. Hoffman also had 47 saves as a Milwaukee Brewers and two more with the Florida Marlins. Hoffman also appeared in seven All-Star games, six of which came in a Padres uniform. He also finished as the runner-up for the Cy Young award in 1998 and 2006.

Hoffman dazzled Padres fans for years with pinpoint control on his fastball, and his devastating changeup is considered one of the best of all-time. Hoffman also racked up a career-high in 1998, when the Padres won the pennant.

Hoffman's iconic number 51 is already retired by the team, and the Hall of Fame nod will further cement his status as one of the most iconic athletes in the history of San Diego sports. Hoffman works for the Padres, currently serving as the Padres upper-level pitching coordinator.
