Zack Greinke was back on the mound facing his former team again for the second time in a week. This time, Greinke was back home in Los Angeles but could not capture the win. The Dodgers bullpen crumbled in a 6-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Greinke pitched five innings, struck out six, and held the Brewers scoreless. Greinke gave up two hits, but walked five, something that was out of character. The walks were not an issue for Greinke, who had entered the night losing his last four starts. Jamey Wright gave up the lead in the eighth inning with a two run double and was relieved by Brandon League, who inherited a bases loaded jam. League struck out Rickie Weeks for the second out, but gave up a bases clearing double to Lyle Overbay and the Dodgers fell behind 5-2. Milwaukee added one more in the ninth. Wright was given the loss in the eventual 6-3 defeat.

Dee Gordon led the first inning off with a single on a soft ground ball to first base. Gordon stole his 55th base with Yasiel Puig at bat and moved to third on a throwing error from Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy. Puig singled to left field to move Gordon across the plate and take the early 1-0 lead. Darwin Barney, making his first appearance at Dodger Stadium as a member of the home team, pinch hit for Greinke in the fifth and was hit by the pitch to take first base. Gordon grounded out into a fielder’s choice and reached first base while Barney was thrown out at second. Gordon stole his second base of the game, giving him an MLB high 56 stolen bases. Puig singled on a ground ball to score Gordon in the same fashion as in the first inning. The combination of Puig and Gordon combined to go 5-8 for two RBI’s and three runs scored. Puig led off the eighth inning with a double, his 32nd of the year. A sacrifice fly from Matt Kemp brought in Puig from second to cut the lead down. Los Angeles left five runners on base in the three run loss.

The Dodgers drop the first game of a three game series at home with the Brewers, losing three of the last four with Milwaukee. Clayton Kershaw, the last Dodgers pitcher to beat the Brewers, will take the mound Saturday night at Chavez Ravine. Juan Uribe left the game with tightness in his right hamstring, something that has bothered the third basemen this year. With Hanley Ramirez on the DL, and now Hyun-Jin Ryu heading to the DL, the Dodgers will look for some good news with Uribe.
