The San Diego Padres tied the game at two in the eighth inning all to give up the deciding three run homer to Didi Gregorious in the bottom half, resulting in a 5-2 D-backs win. Gregorious was in a 2 for 39 slump before he went yard.

Arizona gave Vidal Nuno a 2-0 lead after two innings and he didn't disappoint. Nuno allowed just one hit through his first seven innings of work before finding trouble in the eighth, where he left the bases loaded after recording an out. Kirk Gibson decided to avoid Seth Smith from pinch hitting, and brought in Oliver Perez to face Jedd Gyorko instead. Perez struck out Gyorko but then gave up a two run single to Yangervis Solarte that tied the game and yet again kept Vidal Nuno winless so far as a Diamondback.

D-backs rookie third basemen Jake Lamb hit his first career home run in the second inning, a solo shot.

The series finale takes place Sunday afternoon, where the Diamondbacks will go for the sweep. Chase Anderson will start for the D-backs and face former D-back Ian Kennedy. Kennedy faced Arizona last August at Chase Field, giving up six runs on six hits in just 4 1/3 innings.
