The Arizona Diamondbacks have announced, via a press release, that the team has claimed outfielder Nolan Reimold off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays. Reimold's cousin, Seamous Doyle, a writer for CompletePhillyCoverage.com, tweeted out that Reimold had been claimed, likely being told my Reimold himself that he had been. Reimold will join his third organization this season, as he began the season with the Baltimore Orioles before being designated for assignment and claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays designated him for assignment earlier this week.

Nolan Reimold got off to a terrific start to his major-league career, slashing .279/.365/.466 in 411 plate appearances, along with a exceptional 2.6 WAR, as a rookie for the Orioles in 2009. However after that season, Reimold would never be the same, as he has been sidelined with multiple injuries over the past couple seasons, including neck surgery.

Even when Reimold was healthy, he struggled, never being able to repeat his production that he had in his rookie season. He has hit .212/.283/.404 with a 86 wRC+ and .300 wOBA in sixty total plate appearance this season.

Reimold is making a bit over $1 million this year, as he is also going into the final year of his arbitration eligibility next year. He will likely mostly come off the bench for Arizona, as he is now much more of a platoon hitter, as he has experienced better numbers against left-handed pitching. Even though health will obviously be a concern for Reimold, the 30-year-old outfielder could provide some value for the Diamondbacks, as he owns a career 102 wRC+.
