On Saturday afternoon, the Houston Astros had claimed right-handed pitcher, Samuel Deduno, off of waivers from the Minnesota Twins. With September approaching, the Astros want to finish the season strong. Pitching has been a major weakness of their game, and they look forward to getting some help. Deduno may be able to help them improve.

This season, Deduno is 2-5 with a 4.60 ERA. The Twins utilized him as a starter and a reliever. As of late, he has been coming on in relief and showing signs of improvement. Earlier, he struggled as a starting pitcher. Control was definitely a weakness of his game. Many of his appearances were short outings, and he figured that he should move to the bullpen.

The Astros' bullpen has been horrific this year. Whether it has been blowing leads, or letting the game get out of hand, it has been a miserable season. In September, teams are allowed to expand their roster. The Astros want to get a better glimpse on how they look moving forward. Samuel Deduno was claimed off of waivers to perhaps be a part of the Astros' future. Whether he will be a starter or a reliever, hopefully he will find success in Houston.
