The Kansas City Royals (84-70) take one of three against the Tigers (86-69), the only win of the series coming on Sunday. Jeremy Guthrie got the win and Greg Holland got the save for his late inning efforts.

The Royals scored the first run of the game and the last. The game was tied for a few minutes, but then the Royals put the game away.

The Royals were led by Eric Hosmer, Billy Butler, and Nori Aoki. Hosmer went 2 for 3 with a walk. He hit his 33rd double this season. Butler went 2 for 4 and tacked up his 60th RBI of the season. Aoki continued his hot streak and went 1 for 3 with two RBI's and a walk. Those were his 39th and 40th RBI of the season. Omar Infante also pitched in as we went 1 for 3 with a walk. He scored two runs for the Royals offense. 

The Tigers offense did not show up today. They went 2 for 33 as a team and racked up two walks. They struck out seven times. Ian Kinsler and J.D. Martinez were the only leaders on the team today. Kinsler went 1 for 4 with home run in the third inning. That was his 16th long ball and his 86th RBI. Martinez went 2 for 4 and scored a run. That is all the offense was able to produce for Detroit. 

Rick Porcello struggled in the game. He only pitched 3.1 innings, gave up four runs on nine hits. He walked two batters and only struck out one hitter. His ERA jumped to 3.31 and he is now 15-12 with the loss.

Jeremy Guthrie pitched until the fifth inning. He gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks. He struck out three and his ERA is now 4.28. Greg Holland came in a struck out two batters in the ninth inning to earn his 43rd save of the season.
