The Los Angeles Angels have acquired RP Cesar Ramos from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for RHP Mark Sappington.

Ramos was a strong member of the Rays' bullpen, posting a 3.70 ERA in 43 appearances last season over 82 2/3 innings pitched. He posted a 66/39 K/BB ratio with 7.2 K/9 and 4.2 BB/9. Ramos will be a valuable addition to the Angels' bullpen in 2015.

Sappington went 4-11 with a 6.02 ERA in Single-A Advanced and Double-A last season. He struggled from the starting rotation, but was dominant from the bullpen. He struck out 114 while walking an ugly 79 batters in 113 2/3 innings. He was converted to the bullpen in July 2014, and was named the #9 prospect in the Angels' organization at the conclusion of the 2014 season. Sappington has potential to be a strong reliever that can contribute to the Rays' major-league organization in a couple of years.
