Another year, another rumor. This time it is around Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus. According to a source Andrus has been linked with the Los Angeles Dodgers for outfielder Carl Crawford.

It has been suggested by the front office of the Rangers that they should move Andrus and his huge contract. The Rangers have to very young and talented shortstops in waiting in Jurickson Profar and Rougned Odor. The move would make the most sense for the Dodgers since they don't really know what to expect from Hanley Ramirez.

Los Angeles has very high end players that they can ship to Texas in exchange for Andrus. For example, the man everyone wanted gone last season, Matt Kemp. Another option for Texas could be Carl Crawford. Both would costless up a crowded outfield for the Dodgers, but losing one or both would certainly hurt them as well. If the Dodgers do however decide to go through with deal, they may ask for some outfield prospects in return.

Keeping Profar and Odor in the minors for the Rangers is a waste of time. So moving Andrus, or either Profar or Odor makes sense. It will be interesting to look as this process keeps unfolding as we hit the later part of costless agency. Fred Roggin and The Beast980 show are saying the Dodgers are willing to "give up" a lot in return for Andrus.

Crawford and Andrus both have proved themselves to be legit players in the league. Seeing this trade go down, if it happens, should not surprise anyone. The Dodgers are in a situation where they need to validate their shortstop position. At this point they don't the status on Ramirez. If he does become as costless agent, as rumors say he will, then the Dodgers will most certainly go "all-in" for Andrus.

The best part to take away from this on Andrus is that his arm is okay. "It's definitely not ready, but it is getting there, it feels good."  Andrus arm won't be the seller for teams, well maybe it will be. We all know that Andrus is very talented. When asked about his preparation Andrus said, "I am working very hard to get back to 100% before spring training, I have worked hard on my arm, bat speed, and quickness." All positive vibes, but as others have stated, this is November. Not February. A lot can take place between now and then.
