The renovation project that Wrigley field was undergoing will not be complete before the Chicago Cubs opening night tilt with the St. Louis Cardinals on April 5th, according to CBS Sports

"It's the nature of the construction business, being able to deal with timing issues and setbacks and delays,” Julian Green, vice president of communications and community affairs said, according to CBS Sports. “Delays happen with any construction project. They're compounded with restoring a 100-year old ballpark and trying to work within a 26-week timeframe, which as of Monday, is 19 weeks."

The Cubs say that season ticket holders who are affected will have three options. The first is to recieve tickets in the grandstand untill the bleachers are ready. The second is recieve a partial refund for games missed, and the third option is to recieve a credit to 2016 season ticket packeges.

The new videoboards and signage will be installed before opening day, the team said.  The bleachers will be ready sometime in 2015, but a date has not yet been set.

The reason for the delays is a unusually cold fall, as well as a city construction project that was supposed to be completed in October. The Cubs do not believe that any games will have to be rescheduled, as it is a matter of attendance.

“Given the attendance rates in April, or the past attendance rates in April, we have more than enough seats to accommodate season ticket holders who hold seats in the bleachers." Green said, according to Carrie Muskat of mlb.com.
