The Miami Marlins made a costless agent signing this morning that will surely bring more pop to their lineup. The team has signed veteran first baseman Michael Morse to a two-year-deal.

Morse's best statistical year came back in 2011 when he hit 31 home runs while hitting .303 with a .360 OBP, while he has been a bit of a journey man these last few seasons, going from Seattle to Baltimore, before landing in San Francisco to win a World Series with the Giants last season. It seems as if Morse has found a place where he can call home at least for the next two seasons.

The Marlins have been very public about the fact they were searching for a first baseman, now they have found one, their lineup looks scary. With youngsters like Yelich, and newly added Dee Gordon to go along with the power of Stanton, Ozuna and now Morse, the Marlins have put together a lineup with very few holes.

With their impressive additions this off-season to go along with young ace Jose Fernandez coming back sometime during the year, the Marlins will be a force to be reckoned with in the National League East. Morse is a great veteran leader, and that alone will help the young Marlins flourish.
