The Baltimore Orioles have agreed to terms with costless agent reliever Wesley Wright on a one-year contract for 2015. MLB.com's Andrew Simon reports that the Orioles have not confirmed the deal, and the salary terms are not yet publicly available, but he made $1.425 million in 2014. Wright must pass his physical exam to make his new deal official.

Wright, a left-handed specialist, spent 2014 in the Chicago Cubs' bullpen, where he did a fine job. In 2014, Wright was 0-3 but with a very solid 3.17 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 48 1/3 innings spread over 58 appearances. His walk total of 19 is a little high considering his low innings count, but he also struck out 37 men. Most impressively, Wright did not allow a single extra-base hit to left-handed hitters, who were 21 for 77 (.273) off him. That is a fairly high batting average against him, but those hits were all singles. He was even better against righties, who hit .255 (but with two home runs) off him.

In his career, Wright, who will turn 30 in late January, is 10-18 with a 4.17 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in at least parts of seven seasons with the Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Rays, and Cubs. His 2014 season was his best full season so far.
