Last season, Kennedy turned in a solid campaign for San Diego, pitching to a 13-13 record, with a 3.63 ERA in 201 innings. Kennedy will be eligible for costless agency after the 2015 season.

Fellow starter and 2014 National League All-Star Tyson Ross signed for $5.25 million. Ross was the Padres undisputed ace in 2014, posting a 13-14 record, with a sparkling 2.81 ERA. Ross is entering his second year of arbitration eligibility and won't be eligible for costless agency until after the 2018 season.

Andrew Cashner, 28, signed for $4.05 million. Cashner battled injuries in 2014, but when on the field, he flashed top-of-the-rotation stuff. In 19 starts, Cashner went 5-7, with a 2.55 ERA. He will be eligible for costless agency after the 2016 season.

Shawn Kelley, 30, signed for $2.835 million. Kelley, who was acquired from the Yankees last month, pitched to a 4.53 ERA in 59 games for the Yankees last season, He will be eligible for costless agency after the 2015 season.

Amarista slashed .239/.286/.314, with five home runs and 40 RBI. He also played capably at shortstop after Everth Cabrera went down with an injury. Amarista won't be eligible for costless agency until after the 2017 season.

Yonder Alonso, 27, signed for $1.65 million. He should open the 2015 campaign as San Diego's starting first baseman. In 2014, Alonso had another disappointing, injury-plagued season, as he played in just 84 games. When he was on the field, Alonso slashed just .240/.285/.340, with seven homers and 27 RBI. Alonso is under team-control through the 2017 season.

Reliever Dale Thayer, 33, signed for $1.375 million. The veteran reliever had a solid season in San Diego in 2014, setting career highs in appearances and ERA. Thayer posted a sparkling 2.34 ERA in a career-high 70 appearances last season. Thayer is under team control through the 2017 season.

According to Lin, Padres general manager A.J. Preller did not comment if the Padres were exploring extensions for any of the aforementioned players.
