As speculation grew earlier today on Max Scherzer it was only a matter of time before it was confirmed where he would go. The mystery is now over as to where he would land. Jon Morosi has confirmed the report from Jon Heyman that Max Scherzer is indeed signing with the Washington Nationals. This will now give the Nationals one of the best pitching rotations in the major leagues. Ken Rosenthal has reported that this seven-year deal will be worth more than $180 million. Although the exact numbers of this deal haven't been disclosed yet, Ken Rosenthal's report seems to show that another Scott Boras client is going to be paid more from costless agency than what a contract extension would have given them.

The Washington Nationals will most likely be trading one of their others starters, potentially Jordan Zimmerman or Steven Strasburg, as previously mentioned earlier. They will be doing this to help costless up some money in order to pay Max. Now that Scherzer has signed expect teams to go after James Shields heavily as he is the last ace pitcher left on the costless agent market.

Scherzer was the 2013 American League CY Young winner. In 2014, he was 18-5 with a 3.14 ERA and is to be the ace of this deadly Nationals' rotation.
