The Toronto Blue Jays added some power to their organization by signing Dayan Viciedo to a minor-league contract, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The details have not been reported.

The Chicago White Sox cut Viciedo after a poor performance from an average standpoint, but he still has power. With Michael Saunders out for quite some time, he might end up as a starter on the Blue Jays roster. However, to even earn that role; he would have to be solid in spring training.

Viciedo, who has a nickname: The Tank, was drafted by the White Sox as a free agent in 2008. He defected from Cuba to play in the MLB. He debuted on June 20, 2010 with the same team that signed him. He played third base and went 1-for-4 against the Washington Nationals

The 25-year-old hit .231/.281/.405 with 21 home runs and 58 RBI's over 145 games in Chicago. He struggled striking out 122 times over 523 at-bats. As it was stated before, the righty still has power. If he can increase hit contact, then he would make for a very good hitter.

This is low risk, high reward for the Blue Jays and it will be very interesting to see how it all plays out.
