Adrian Beltre launched his first Spring Training home run Thursday afternoon, and the Texas Rangers overcame an early 3-0 deficit to defeat the Chicago White Sox 7-3. The home run was also the first run batted in for Beltre this spring as he is hitting just .231 in 10 Rangers games.

With his team up 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth, Beltre took a fastball from Chicago's J.D. Martin over the center field wall. The home run (1) was Beltre's only hit of the afternoon in three attempts.

The Rangers added on two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth when Nate Schierholtz singled home his first two runs of the spring, scoring Ed Lucas and Kyle Blanks.

Chicago took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second, courtesy of a Courtney Hawkins RBI double that drove home Avisail Garcia and a Carlos Sanchez two-run single that scored Geovany Soto and Hawkins.

After getting on the board in the third via Rougned Odor's RBI groundout, Texas stormed back with three in the fourth to take the lead. Shin-Soo Choo tripled home Jorge Alfaro. Ryan Ludwick followed with a sacrifice fly to bring in Choo and tie the game. Alfaro then doubled home Garcia to give the Rangers the lead. Beltre and Shierholtz took over from there.

Five Rangers relievers combined to pitch 6 2/3 scoreless innings with Nick Tepesch (W: 1-1. 13.50 ERA) benefitting from the Rangers' three-run fourth inning. Tepesch pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing only three hits and a walk. Chicago had no hits in the final 2 2/3 innings against three more Rangers relievers.

Rangers starter Anthony Ranaudo left in the top of the third with elbow stiffness. MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports that Ranaudo was close to his pitch limit anyway and was ready to come out after finishing the inning. Ranaudo said he threw more pitches on the Rangers' practice field and claimed his discomfort "is nothing major." He expects to make his next start.

Ranaudo is competing for a spot at the back end of the Rangers' rotation.

Meanwhile, Chicago's Chris Beck (L: 0-1, 9.00) suffered the loss. He pitched two innings and allowed the three fourth-inning runs.

On Friday, Texas travels to face the San Francisco Giants, and Chicago will visit the Colorado Rockies.
