The Detroit Tigers took on the New York Yankees at 1:05 PM EST at Joker Merchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida. The Yankees rocked both the Tigers and their starting pitcher, Alfredo Simon. In the end, New York won the game, 11-2.

Simon made his fourth start of the spring and gave up six runs on six hits in the first inning alone. He gave up a triple and double to start the game. Later, he gave up a two-run shot at the hands of Rob Refsnyder. Simon threw two scoreless innings after the awful first. He threw 68 pitches.

Joe Nathan threw another perfect inning, which is great news because he struggled on a regular basis last season. Bruce Rondon looked very well, except he gave up a home run to Alex Rodriguez, it went to the opposite field.

Joba Chamberlain and Joakim Soria were both dominant. New York did not score on the duo. Alex Wilson gave up three runs on two hits and a walk. This is not a game he will want to remember.

Yoenis Cespedes slipped an opposite-field shot around the right field foul pole. He finished with two hits.

Speedy center fielder Rajai Davis raked a double and finished with three hits. Backup shortstop Andrew Romine and fifth outfielder Tyler Collins both had one hit to their name.

Adam Warren got the win for New York and Chase Whitley got the save for his efforts. Simon received the loss for Detroit.

The Tigers (6-13) will take on the New York Mets (10-8) on Saturday at 1:05 PM EST. Detroit will send David Price (0-1, 4.50 ERA) to the mound to face off against Steven Matz (0-0, 1.50 ERA). The game will be played in Lakeland, Florida.
