The Milwaukee Brewers were in a tough spot coming into Thursday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. On the cellar of the NL Central and with an eight-game losing streak under their belts, The Brew Crew tried their hardest to end the losing skid as they kept fallen deeper and deeper in one of the most competitive divisions in all of baseball.

Things didn't start very good but the team was resilient. They never stopped fighting and managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds, a result that finally gives them a win - their second in the last 11 games.

The Brewers got on the board early when Adam Lind went deep off Homer Bailey in the bottom of the second. The Reds, however, recovered the lead via another HR as Marlon Byrd hit a bomb well over right center field to give Cincinnati a 2-1 lead.

Milwaukee opted not to rattle and they continued to fight, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Aramis Ramirez - who's been the subject of plenty of criticism for his sloppy play early in the year - hit the second homer off Bailey to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth.

With both starters out of the game, the Brewers' bullpen proved to be much more efficient than the Reds' one. While Milwaukee's relieving corp didn't allow a single run in 2.0 IP, Cincinnati's relievers allowed a run in the seventh - an RBI single from Jean Segura off Kevin Gregg - and another one in the eighth when Ryan Braun stole third and later scored on a catching error from third baseman Kristopher Negron.

Francisco Rodriguez pitched the ninth to pick up his second save of the season. Rodriguez struck out one, didn't walk anyone and allowed a double to Zack Cozart. It was Cozart's fourth 2B of the season.

Kyle Lohse got the win after a masterful performance where he only allowed two runs in seven innings. The veteran right-hander allowed only three hits, struck out four batters and only walked one. On the other hand, Homer Bailey allowed the same two runs in 5.2 innings, fanning three and walking one.

Both teams will resume their play tomorrow against division rivals. The Reds will start a three-game set at Great American Ballpark against the Chicago Cubs while the Brewers will host the Cardinals at Miller Park.
