What a turn of events for the San Francisco Giants! In what some thought to be a horrible season ahead of them, and the Dodgers coming into town riding a 7-game win streak, it spelled trouble. But, for the Giants, it doesn't matter what the record for the Dodgers is! It's a rivalry and that's what a rivalry stands for. The Giants sweep the Dodgers in their first meeting this season from Maxwell's walk-off hit in the 10th inning.

"I go into every at-bat looking to hit the ball hard. I was ready to hit," Maxwell said of his winning single. "Winning is fun. I can't wait to get on the plane and celebrate with the team."

"It was a great series," Giants' manager Bruce Bochy said. "It could have gone either way the last two games. It's been a tough homestand and this made it not so bad."

Vogelsong was on the mound for the Giants, and he pitched wonderfully! He got the veteran nod in place of Peavy. Vogelsong pitched 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits. It was just what the Giants needed out of Vogelsong as he seems to have hit a rhythm in a big game for him. Casilla was granted the win in this game.

"This shows you what this year is going to be, how this division is going to be," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "Buckle up."

This should bring some incredible confidence to the Giants. Any win over the Dodgers, but a sweep? That could transform this team. The Giants sit at 7-10 on the season thus far and threaten to get better.
