Addison Russell's three-run double became the margin of victory as the Chicago Cubs (10-7) defeated the Cincinnati Reds (8-10) 5-2 Sunday afternoon to gain a sweep of the two-game series, which included a Saturday rain-out.

In the top of the fourth, Russell took a breaking ball from Cincinnati's Anthony DeSclafani off the top of the right-field wall to clear the bases (video). Kris Bryant, Miguel Montero, and Chris Coghlan all came around to complete a four-run rally and give the Cubs a 5-0 lead.

Anthony Rizzo walked and stole second to start the big inning. Bryant reached on an error, which moved Rizzo to third. Montero singled home Rizzo, and with one out, Coghlan drew an intentional walk with the pitcher, Jake Arrieta, up next. Arrieta fanned to bring up Russell, who came through with the big hit.

The Cubs scored first on Montero's opposite-field solo home run (3) off DeSclafani in the second. 

Cincinnati came back with single runs in the fourth and fifth. Todd Fraizer made up a little for his error in the top of the fourth with a solo shot (5) in the bottom half. Billy Hamilton brought home a run with an RBI fielder's choice in the fifth. 

Arrieta (W: 3-1, 2.03 ERA) pitched six strong innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits, including Fraizer's home run. He also walked three and struck out six. Hector Rondon (S: 4, 1.86) pitched the ninth to close it out. He allowed one hit and struck out two, including Kristopher Negron to end it. Zac Rosscup and Pedro Strop each contributed a scoreless inning in relief.

DeSclafani (L: 2-1, 1.04) had just the one rough inning in taking the loss. Only one of the five runs he allowed was earned; all four runs the Cubs scored in the fourth were unearned. DeSclafani pitched five innings, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out five. He came in with an ERA of 0.86.

Saturday's rain-out has no make-up date at this point.

Both teams stay in the N.L. Central Monday. The Cubs return home to open a three-game series with the Piitsburgh Pirates while Cincinnati hosts the last-place Milwaukee Brewers.
