The Mets are definitely happy to be going home once again, because their six game road trip didn't end very well.

The NL East leaders lost their second game in a row on Thursday night, and it once again happened in pretty frustrating fashion.

Bartolo Colon had one of his worst outings of the season for the Mets, going 6 2/3 innings, allowing 9 hits and four runs. After Michael Cuddyer put New York up 2-0 in the top of the first with a two-run shot, Colon served up a meatball to Giancarlo Stanton, who sent an absolute rocket into left field to tie the game.

Miami's Mat Latos didn't fare amazingly either, as he went five innings and allowed five hits and three runs. Latos, who entered Wednesday's contest with a 7.31 ERA, allowed the Metsies to take a 3-2 lead in the third, thanks to a Lucas Duda RBI groundout which drove home Curtis Granderson after he led of the inning with a double.

In the fifth, Stanton tied the game for Miami with an RBI infield single, of many hits by the Fish that seemingly just took a lucky bounce. In the seventh, Adeiny Hechavarria led off with a wacky double, which bounced over the head of third baseman Eric Campbell. Hech would score on a Dee Gordon sacrifice fly, and the Marlins would take the lead for good.

The Mets had some more rough luck in the top of the eighth, as Duda grounded into a slick double play after Juan Lagares led off the inning against reliever Mike Dunn with a walk. Afterwards, Cuddyer would reach on an infield single, only to see Daniel Murphy ground out to third to end the inning.

After a Marcell Ozuna walk and a Jacob Realmuto infield single in the bottom of the eighth, Ichiro Suzuki stepped up to the plate.

The 41 year old icon looked Mets reliever Alex Torres in the eye, as he has with so many other pitchers, and started waving his bat up and down. After Torres pushed Ichiro to a 1-2 count, the Japanese legend began fouling off pitch after pitch. In fact, he fouled off four straight, and on the eighth pitch of the at-bat, he rocked a ball down the right field line and into the seats for a three-run homer. As pure joy came to Ichiro's face, frustration came to the Mets, as they would go on to lose their second straight and the fourth of their now complete six game road trip. With the 7-3 win, the Marlins recorded their seventh win in eight games.

Jack Leathersich made his major league debut for the Mets. He allowed what looked like a double to pinch hitter Justin Bour, but Bour slipped his hand off second base and was tagged out.

The Mets will head back home four a huge four game series against the 9-13 Washington Nationals. The Marlins will have a day off on Thursday before welcoming the Philadelphia Phillies for a three game weekend series in Miami.
