Martin Maldonado drove home the game-winning run for his second RBI of the day as the Milwaukee Brewers (11-21) outlasted the Chicago Cubs (15-15) in 11 innings. Maldonado took a 95-mile-per-hour fastball from the Cubs' Jason Motte off the right-field wall for the walk-off single that scored Ryan Braun to end the game (video).

Braun led off the inning with a double. After Motte intentionally walked Adam Lind, Braun went to third on Khris Davis's fly ball to deep left center. Another intentional walk, Maldonado won the game.

Maldonado hit the first of back-to-back home runs to lead off the bottom of the seventh. He  took Zac Rosscup down the left-field line for the game-tying home run (2). Elain Herrera follwed with the second home run (2) that put the Brewers ahead 2-1. That lead, though, was short-lived.

In the top of the eighth, Anthony Rizzo's two-out double scored Dexter Fowler from first base to tie the game at 2-2. Rizzo one-hopped the right-field wall. The throw to the plate beat Fowler by plenty, but Maldonado could not could not hold onto the ball. 

The Cubs got on the board first with a solo home run from Miguel Montero (4) in the top of the sixth with two outs.

Michael Blazek (W: 3-0, 1.08 ERA) picked up the win in relief, pitching a perfect top of the 11th and striking out two. He has allowed two runs in 15 2/3 innings on the season. Brewers starter Matt Garza lasted seven innings, allowing one earned run, Montero's home run, on three hits. He walked three and struck out nine.

Motte (L: 1-1. 4.50) served up the game winner to suffer the loss. He allowed two hits and intentionally walked two. Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks looked much more like he did in his rookie season last year. He pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing five hits and two walks while fanning three. 

The Cubs return home Monday after a 2-5 road trip to open a four-game series with the New York Mets while Milwaukee starts a three-game set with the Chicago White Sox at Miller Park.
