On Friday, the commissioner's office made the announcement that New York Mets minor league relief pitcher Ricky Jacquez has received a 50-game suspension after testing positive for a drug test.

The 22-year-old will begin serving his second suspension in June, when the Kingsport Mets (Rookie-Level team) start their season in the Appalachian League. They are based in Kingsport, Tennessee.

The pitcher has not pitched professionally since 2013 with Kingsport. He owned a 1.74 ERA in six games and 16 appearances for the team. He added a 2-0 record with six saves.

Jacquez was on the roster for Kingsport and was expected to be a key role in their bullpen. Because of the suspension, the right-handed pitcher will have to wait a little longer to make his presence felt.
