Jeff Samardzija was wearing Oakland Green and Yellow during the season last year, but then on December 9, 2014, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox as the White Sox were looking for more starting pitching to rebuild their roster and give them a better shot to compete in the 2015 MLB season. Pitching against his former team, he looked like he was doing well and was going to take advantage of pitching in a familiar stadium.

The White Sox scored in the top of the first courtesy of two errors by the Athletics. Scott Kazmir had the first one when he was trying to throw Emilio Bonifacio out at first. Bonifacio ended up scoring from second when Adam Eaton was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice but Stephen Vogt threw the following pass past first base and that's how the run got on the board quickly.

In the bottom of the fourth, Max Muncy would give the Athletics their only lead of the game with his first home run of the season. It was a two run blast and would score Coco Crisp as well.

Eaton would get on base in the top of the fifth after another throwing error, this time on shortstop Marcus Semien. The White Sox would keep adding up the singles as Jose Abreu knocked Eaton home, Gordon Beckham drew a bases loaded walk to score Melky Cabrera, and Alexei Ramirez would single to score Abreu and Avisail Garcia. Then the Athletic's pulled Scott Kazmir for Dan Otero. Otero forced Geovany Soto into a double play to end the inning and stop the bleeding.

Samardzija would give up one more run as Billy Butler grounded out and scored Billy Burns from third base in the bottom of the fifth. But he pitched 8 innings and scattered 8 hits and 3 walks and only allowed the three runs. Zach Putnam would finish off the Athletics in the bottom of the ninth. Avisail Garcia hit a 2 run home run of his own in the top of the ninth off Tyler Clippard. That would be exactly what would get us to the final score of White Sox 7, Athletics 3.

The Chicago White Sox (17-17) will put Chris Sale on the mound tomorrow as they face Corey Kluber and the Cleveland Indians (14-22). Meanwhile the Oakland Athletics (13-26) will try to find a way to save their season by pitching Drew Pomeranz against the Houston Astros (25-13) and Lance McCullers, who will be making his major league debut.
