Fresh off a west coast road trip, the Boston Red Sox finally come back home to Fenway Park for a 3-game series with the Texas Rangers. Boston is looking to ride some momentum coming back home and they did just that winning the game in a close affair, 4-3.

Boston got on the board first in the first inning with a single to right field by David Ortiz scoring in Dustin Pedroia to give Boston the 1-0 lead. Boston adds to the lead in the fourth inning with a line drive to left field homerun by Mike Napoli, his fourth homer of the season to give Boston a 2-0 lead. Boston continued to add on in the bottom of the fifth inning with a homerun to right center field by David Ortiz, his sixth homerun of the season to give Boston the 3-0 lead.

In the same inning Boston padded their lead with a single on a ground ball by Mike Napoli that brought home Hanley Ramirez giving Boston a 4-0 lead. Texas got on the board in the sixth inning with a line drive single by Thomas Davis bringing home Kyle Blanks. To cut the Boston lead down to 4-1.  Texas chipped at the lead in the same inning with a triple by Robinson Chirinos that drove in Thomas Fields. Texas made it a one run game in the ninth inning with a homerun by Leonys Martin, his second homerun of the season. That was all they could muster in the ninth inning as Boston would close it out and defeat the Rangers 4-3.

Wade Miley went seven innings giving up two runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts. That is a solid outing for Miley whenever he can go seven innings and go deep into the game. Even though he gave up two runs he was still pretty dominate picking up the win for Boston.

Yovani Gallardo went five innings giving up four runs on 10 hits with only two strikeouts. This was not a good performance for Gallardo he gave up a lot of early runs. That is mostly the reason why Texas pulled him after five innings. They had to get him out of there before Boston did more damage on him and add on more runs. He picked up the loss for Texas, his sixth of the season.
