Noah Sydergaard produced for the New York Mets on both sides of the ball today in route to a 7-0 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. The Mets got the scoring going early, thanks to Lucas Duda solo blast, putting them up 1-0 early.

The Mets kept the scoring going in the third inning and piled on the runs. Daniel Murphy drove in Duda on a single to right field, and the Mets were up 2-0. In the next at-bat, Michael Cuddyer took a pitch to left field and over the fence for a two-run home run, putting the Mets up 4-0.

The scoring wasn't done for the Mets yet. In the bottom of the fourth, Sydnergaard took a Sean O'Sullivan pitch deep (430 feet) for a solo shot and added to the Mets lead, 5-0.

Come the fifth inning, the slugfest continued for the Mets. Duda hit another ball over the fence, this time to right field, putting the Mets up 6-0.

The runs continued to come in during the sixth inning. Curtis Granderson hit a sac fly to center, which allowed Danny Muno to tag up from third and score, giving the Mets a 7-0 lead.

Sean O'Sullivan's day was finally done after 5 2/3 innings. O'Sullivan gave up 11 hits, 7 earned runs, one walk, two strikeouts, and four home runs. O'Sullivan has now dropped to 1-4 on the season.

Noah Sydergaard had a day to remember. Syndergaard threw 7 1/3 scoreless innings, only giving up six hits and struck out six. Syndergard was also 3-3 at the plate today, including the solo home run.

The Mets bats died down after O'Sullivan left, while the Phillies struggled to produce anything during the game. The Phillies had eight hits, but only one was an extra base hit.

The Mets record improved to 27-21 while the Phillies dropped to 19-30. The Mets start a new series against the Marlins at home while the Phillies go back to Citizens Bank Park to play the Rockies.
