According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Mets Director of Scouting was at the ballgame in Minnesota to scout the Brewers and take a look at a couple players that might interest them down the road to make a playoff push.

Rosenthal reports the Mets may have interest in third basemen Aramis Ramirez and/or shortstop Jean Segura.

The team also has interest in A's second basemen Ben Zobrist, but team officials believe many teams will go for him and will outbid the Mets.

With injuries to second basemen Daniel Murphy (quad), who added to the 15-Day disabled list and captain David Wright (back), who is out indefinitely, the Mets will look to make a deal.

The team has been currently looking to deal Dillon Gee (with limited interest), who was added to bullpen after making his way back from injuries. The Mets originally had him in a six man rotation, but reneged to keep it and went back to five. They are now are using him as a spot starter/long reliever.

The Mets will also look to lighten the load in the current rotation as prospect Steven Matz looks like he is ready for the bright lights of New York. Matz currently 6-4 with 1.94 ERA in Triple-A Vegas.

Mets are mulling the idea of trading Jon Niese rather than Gee, because it would give way to Matz and Gee could be used more of a swing man out of the pen, as he is now.

But other things factor in a Matz call up as he only has 11 career starts in Triple-A, Super-2 Eligibility cutoff which is June 20th, and the Mets would like to manage his innings to 180-185 this season. He currently has pitched 74.1 innings in Triple-A. The Mets want to avoid a shutdown once he joins the rotation.
