Phoenix—The Arizona Diamondbacks scratched and clawed back into Friday’s game to come away with the 4-3 walk-off win over the Colorado Rockies.

Diamondbacks shortstop Cliff Pennington delivered the walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning scoring Wellington Castillo. For Pennington, it was his second RBI on the night and would finish the game 2-for-4. Third baseman Jake Lamb and first baseman Paul Goldschmidt drove in a run apiece and went 2-for-4 to provide the rest of the Diamondback offense.

Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Kendrick (3-10) received plenty of run support early, but wasn’t able to protect the early Colorado lead. Center fielder Charlie Blackmon led off the night with a lead-off home run to deep right center field, and Wilin Rosario drove in two with a two-run double. That would be all the runs the Rockies would get the entire night. Kendrick took the no decision after 5.2 innings allowing three runs on nine hits and six strikeouts.

After settling in after the first inning, D-backs starter Chase Anderson (4-2) fell into a nice rhythm against Rockies hitters. Anderson also took a no decision after six innings of work allowing three runs on three hits and recorded five strikeouts.

Both teams used a combined 11 pitchers, nine of which came out of both teams’ respective bullpens.

Arizona reliever Andrew Chafin (5-0) recorded the win after coming in the top of the 10th. Rockies reliever Yohan Flande, who was recently called up from Triple-A Albuquerque, recorded only one out in the bottom of the 10th before giving up the walk-off sacrifice fly to Pennington.

Arizona will send Patrick Corbin (0-0) to the hill for the first time since 2013 to square off against Colorado’s David Hale (2-3). First pitch is slated for Saturday July 4th at 10:10 P.M. EST. The game can be seen on ROOT Sports and Fox Sports Arizona.
