Just a few weeks after being removed from the 40-man roster, J.C. Ramirez is getting a fresh start in another organization. The Arizona Diamondbacks have traded the reliever to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for cash or future considerations, the team reported.

The 26-year-old has been with the Triple-A Reno Aces since he last pitched in the big leagues, which was June 8th.

In the Minor Leagues, he is 0-1 with a 2.88 ERA over 23 appearnces this season. Pitching out of relief, he has one save in two opportuities, but is mainly a seventh and eighth inning pitcher.

Over 25 innings pitched this season, Ramirez has struck out 18 batters and has not allowed a home run, but he has 10 walks. Opponents are batting .234 with 22 total hits. He owns a 1.28 WHIP and has given up eight runs.

Ramirez, a native of Nicaragua, was drafted by the Mariners as an amateur free agent in 2005. After being signed by Seattle, he was one of three prospects traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in the Cliff Lee trade in 2009.

He made his debut in 2013 at the big league level. It is nice to see that he is returning to the team that signed him.

Ramirez started his career as a starter and is now a full time bullpen arm. The reliever did not pitch in 2014, but has appeared in 12 big league games this season, finishing four with the Diamondbacks. Over 15.1 innings, Ramirez owns a 1-1 record with a 4.11 ERA. This season, he holds an impressive 0.6 home runs per nine innings and carries a decent 1.239 WHIP.

Ramirez will most likely be placed on the Triple-A squad for the Mariners. However, he will have the oppertunity to make his mark on the Big Leagues.
