For the second time in 320 days, veteran infielder Kelly Johnson has returned to the New York Mets after being recieved in a trade with the Atlanta Braves, according to a report from Adam Rubin of ESPN.com on Wednesday morning.

Jon Morosi of Fox Sports had initially reported that the two sides were working towards the finalization of a deal while Rubin shared the same a short while later as details then progressed.

That being said, Rubin reported that New York will send RHP Akeel Morris the other way from Triple-A Las Vegas as the exchange piece in the deal.

Both clubs have since made an announcement a short while after Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports confirmed the trade as a whole with all details that were provided.

Johnson had signed a one-year, $2MM deal with the Braves back in January just weeks before the start of spring training which gave the year-old time to get himself ready for what was to come.

As noted by Ken Davidoff of the New York Post, the Mets will recieve a total of $450,000 in cash considerations which will go towards the remainder of Johnson's pay as he is still owed a salary worth about $1.3MM.

Where does Johnson fit in on the everyday roster?

Given the fact of which Neil Walker is currently manning the second base position each and every day. Johnson will likely get the chance to split time while possibly getting time in the outfield as well as he has previously played in left field while with the Toronto Blue Jays a few years back.

Johnson was originally brought up by the Atlanta Braves back in 2005 after having been drafted by the club in the first round (48th overall) in the 2000 amateur draft. He later signed in June of that season.

Reflecting back upon his 2015 season, Johnson ended with a slash line of .265/.314/.435 to go alongside 14 home runs and 47 RBI's in a total of 111 games played. Should he be able to put up numbers like this in the season's second half, Johnson could be a vital part of the organization going forward.
