As we prepare for a truly historic weekend for women's mixed martial arts two of the fighters in the strawweight division now have a bout. Possibly the most popular fighter from the 20th season of TUF was Rose Namajunas (2-2) and she will face fellow 115-er Nina Ansaroff (6-4) at UFC 187. Also added to the card headlined by Jon Jones and Anthony Johnson are flyweight fighters Josh Sampo (11-4) and Justin Scoggins (9-2). They are all added to possibly the best card of the year from the promotion.
TUF 20 had its shares of ups and downs but one of the brightest spots in the show were the moments that involved Thug Rose. Not only did she back up everything in the cage she also was one of the more grounded ones in the show. After a great showing in Invicta, Nina Ansaroff lost in her UFC debut to Julia Lima.
Josh Sampo is on a two fight losing streak and looks to get back in the W column against Scoggins. The Missouri wrestling product at a time was a high caliber prospect but a recent run has sent him down a different path. Justin Scoggins is on a similar path so a win for either of these fighters will put them back on track in the division. The male flyweight have come under fire recently as no one feels there is a challenger to Johnson. We will see how these two fare in this exciting night of fights.
Tickets for UFC 187, which features UFC light heavyweight champion and pound-for-pound king Jon Jones defending his 205-pound crown for the ninth time against number one contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson and UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman putting his belt on the line against Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort, go on sale on March 4.
