Saturday, June 6th brought the Shamrock FC event Opposition to the River City Casino in St. Louis, Mo. The card featured four female fights and a celebration from “Mean” Mike Green who is a pioneer in the St. Louis, mixed martial arts scene. He is the latest inductee into the Shamrock Fighting Championships hall of fame. The event was headlined by a short and sweet fight in the heavyweight division as Bobby Brents finished Scott Hough with a TKO in 10 seconds. Rebecca Ruth also finished her fight in impressive fashion by stopping Krystal Manues with strikes in the first round. It was another fun filled night for the Shamrock FC promotion.

Brents took the notion that fighters don’t get paid by the hour and it only took him three punches to take care of Hough. The heavyweight stalked Scott until he had him backed up alongside the cage then unleashed his assault. With no place to go Hough felt the power of Brents and it sent him to the canvas.

In the co-main event, we saw the final women’s fight of the evening between Ruth and Manues. Krystal brought the fight to Ruth but once she felt the power of Ruth, Manues went for takedowns. She was never able to establish a single or double leg and kept eating shots. Soon enough, she couldn't hold off any longer and the fight was stopped after a few more blows sent her to the mattress.

In the featured bout between Jake Constant and Chris Manuel, both fighters came out displaying a willingness to strike with either holding an advantage. As Jake pressed forward in the middle of the first round, he ate a head kick from Manuel. Chris pounced looking for the finish but Jake defended well. Chris transitioned to a great armbar to pull off the pull off the win in a fast paced battle.

The fight between Michael Gaston and Jay White didn’t last long as the fan favorite Gaston was able to finish it early with elbows to the ground. He held dominate top control the entire time and used some sharp blows to finish him. Jay was not able to push any pressure towards Gaston and once the stronger fighter got him to the ground that was more than enough to finish the fight via ground and pound.

In the featured prelim fight, Michael Chappell won the amatuer bantamweight title. He faced Bob Hinchliffe who stepped in on short notice after the devastating death of Levi Rose. Bob was doing well on the feet but soon Mike got him to the ground. In unprecedented fashion, Chappell shoulder hit the chin of Bob and it sent him to the canvas for a rare KO.

The rest of the card saw great victories by Rachel Stockham, Jason Christeson, Kelly D’Angelo, Patrick Sparks, Nick Werner and Dakota Zimmerman.
