The Salem Rocks, who just came off a very close game 40-38 against John Glenn Tuesday night, came back with a very strong effort led by Jamyra Wilson who played strong defense - Gabi Bird, as well as knocked down a lot of shots to help Salem advance to the Conference Championship game - Plymouth. Shara Long was a very good player in the paint tonight, and the rocks also had solid bench production from Zoe Talley, who had many steals and kept the pressure on South Lyon East, forcing many mistakes. Marisa Martin, Leah Moss, Allison First, and Lasha Petree also served valuable minutes off the bench for the Rocks. Katie Latack had another great game for the Rocks, and is looking like she will have a very strong rest of the year as a Senior, as well as Hayley Rogers who has been a valuable post presence assisting Shara Long in the paint. Maranda Armstead also had a nice game back after missing the John Glenn game due to injury, and was a part of the starting crew that only gave up 2 points in the first quarter.

South Lyon East still has a good chance of making the state tournament after their stunning upset of Canton on Tuesday, however they could not find a way past Salem, after Gabi Bird got held to 0 points in the first half.

Salem's final stop in the Conference tournament is the finals, when they will be hosting campus-rival Plymouth Wildcats, in a game that looks to be very competitive. The two teams met earlier in the season, with Plymouth pulling off a huge victory, however Salem has been hot recently, going 10-0 in the divsion and winning both conference tournament games so far.

Coach Lindsay Klemmer, as well as the rest of the Rocks team and fans are trying to get as many people as possible to show up for the big game on Tuesday in Plymouth. "We need more fans to come out and support the girls games" one fan said after the game today. "This is a great team playing can't miss basketball and all the games have been very enjoyable to come see." There should be more people than normal to check out two of the best teams in the final, especially considering the intensity that comes with cross campus rivalry games. It looks to be a great matchup in Tuesday, as both sides look to capture a conference championship.
