The number one seeded Apple Valley Eagles are state champions for the tenth straight time after defeating St Michael Albertville 36-6.

"The feeling changes every year," Apple Valley Associate Head Coach Rudy James said afterwards, "It depends on the type of kids."

The St Michael Albertville Knights won their state quarterfinal match against Moorhead 53-12, while Prior Lake upset Farmington 36-25. In the final first round matchup, Willmar beat Centennial 38-24.

In the consolation semifinals, Farmington easily defeated White Bear Lake, while Moorhead knocked off Centennial 38-26. Moorhead then defeated Farmington 33-29 to win fifth place.

In the championship semifinals, Apple Valley beat Prior Lake 40-19, while St Michael Albertville beat Willmar 34-18. In the third place match, Prior Lake won 46-20 over Willmar to take third place.

In the championship match, St Michael Albertville won four pins, but it was not enough as Apple Valley won a very tight match by a final score of 36-30 to win their tenth straight state championship.

The individual tournament will take place Friday and Saturday, with VAVEL USA having daily recaps each day, as well as a preview of the championship matches on Saturday Afternoon.
