Coach Lindsay Klemmer has undergone a lot of adversity since becoming the Rocks coach last year, after the very unfortunate passing of previous coach Fred Thomann. She came out though, ready to lead her high school alma mater to the State tournament, and get a deep run, aiming to go as far as Canton did the previous season.

Salem came out on a rough note, starting by getting demolished by Plymouth before losing three more close games. Then, they caught fire. Winning a ridiculous 20 straight games, Salem coach Lindsay Klemmer got her girls playing strong, balanced basketball, and they showed up in the KLAA tournament ready to show what they could do, pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the season against Waterford Kettering in the Conference Final in double overtime. They then had to open Districts against rival Plymouth, where they would hold on to win their first district game the Seniors have played in. They ended up winning the district against other main rival and defending runner up, Canton, and won their first Regional game - Fenton for the Seniors as well, before running into a fantastic Hartland team, who would hand Salem their first defeat in over a month in the Regional final.

Klemmer, only in her second year coaching at Salem, has been a very influential force on this team, and for the Seniors especially. She beat out the Flushing and Dewitt coaches for the honor.
