The conditions made it feel like spring. Indeed, the temperatures were mild and the track was salted by the organization before the race since the snow was too soft.

Lara Gut stopped Lindsey Vonn’s domination in the discipline to claim the win in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. She signed the fastest time in 1:20:51, relegating Viktoria Rebensburg and Lindsey Vonn respectively at 0.15 and 0.23 seconds.

Gut was disappointed yesterday, finishing only 14th, far from the best. She reacted in the most beautiful way today, dominating the Super G. It is her 5th victory of the season and 17th on the World Cup. Gut managed to stay smooth and precise on her lines, being able to stay aggressive on the turns without losing time. She especially managed to ski a perfect upper track section compared to her fellow alpine skiers. Lara Gut was more than happy after the race as she stated on the FIS website "Yesterday, I wasn’t really skiing. I wasn’t doing what I can. Today was just about less thinking and more skiing and yeah, that was the answer. I just tried to ski and it went out the way I wanted. I felt great, so yes, everything is fine again".

Viktoria Rebensburg continues on her great wave this season. She lands again on the podium, her 6th this season, the 4th top-3 finish in a row. Another great performance for the German racer in front of her home crowd as she stated on the FIS website "Being on the podium twice in a row here in front of a home crowd. It is unbelievable. The crowd was cheering so loud for us and it was just a nice atmosphere. I’m really thankful and I’m really enjoying this moment now."

Lindsey Vonn finished in the third place, after three victories out of three in the Super G specialty. The American racer couldn’t compete on the low part of the slope where she committed a fault. An unbalanced made her lose speed and then hundredth making her unable to take the lead from Gut and taking the second place. The soft snow also made her ski more wisely and carefully.

At the overall standings, Lara Gut comes back at 87 points of Lindsey Vonn, still in the lead. The American skier leads with 1060 points ahead of Lara Gut with  973 points and Viktoria Rebensburg with 820 points.

The battle continues next week in Crans-Montana (Swiss) with a Downhill and a Super Combined.
