The road courses are usually never kind to any driver. But some drivers will make a deal with the track and stick it's word right to it. Others can't handle what's happening in front of them, and don't know how to take a right turn every once in a while. Surely, Sunday was a very interesting day indeed.

Comers:

Carl Edwards has been a nomad in NASCAR over the past few years. He's either doing very well, or he's doing very poor. It's sort of 50/50 when you look at the backflip maniac. With his flip of a coin mantality, it comes as a sure shocker that Cousin Carl would not only get a good finish at a road course, but he even won the darn race. Carl got the lead on a restart with 25 laps to go (which on a road course is actually a long time) and held on the rest of the way with no trouble at all. For Edwards, it was his second win of the season, backing up his win from Bristol in March. He's a lock for the Chase at this point and if he can keep the momentum going, could be a contender for the championship.

Marcos Ambrose isn't a swell driver on most ovals. It's basically a vacation when he gets to drive on a road course because of his road racing background. All day, Marcos claimed that his car was garbage and didn't even belong in the top 10. Must be a big sigh of relief that Marcos wheeled his car home in the 8th spot at Sonoma. Marcos doesn't drive like the best on ovals as said before. But when NASCAR makes it up to Watkins Glen, you can put money on Ambrose being a threat to win.

Casey Mears is one of those drivers you don't expect to be up front. He has more talent than most give him credit for. Casey was pushed into Kasey Kahne early in the race giving him severe front end damage. Regardless of this, Casey wheeled his car back up for a 13th place finish. When you talk about drivers like Casey Mears, all they want to do is beat who they're supposed to beat. Casey did this, and then some beating the likes of Joey Logano, Tony Stewart, and Kevin Harvick among others.

Goers:

Kevin Harvick should find himself shocked to be on this list. Rightfully so. He's had a big resurgence this year, that's undeniable. But ever since Kevin won his second race at Darlington, he's been on a slide down the mountain. Although right now is probably the best time to be falling for a team that is all but guaranteed a spot in the Chase, it makes you wonder what really is going wrong. The team is in the hunt for the top seed in the Chase. A pretty tight race that involves Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Joey Logano. Any one of those men could get the top seed, and someone else may even sneak in to make a run at it. It's not a time for a rest if you're the team or Kevin Harvick. Don't expect this slump to last very much longer.
