Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch, whose team have dominated this season in the Truck Series so far, was quickest in the first practice session in the #51 Toyota truck.

Busch will be making his 500th Toyota start this weekend when he starts the Camping World Truck Series race tomorrow afternoon, can amazing achievement to say Toyota has only been in NASCAR since 2004.

In those 500 races Busch has 114 victory and has lead over a staggering 24,000 laps in the top three tiers of NASCAR.

He put in a time of 38.60 seconds a speed of 186.384mph to go top of the board at the end of the one hour session for the Truck Series at MIS.

Cup Series rookie Austin Dillon in the #20, Darrell Wallace Jr in the #54, Johnny Sauter in the #98 and Timothy Peters in the #17 truck rounded out the top five at the ne of the session.

The third and final Cup Series driver in tomorrow's race, Joey Logano, was 10th quickest in the first session and only 27 drivers made a lap during it.

The session began with Ron Hornaday in the #30 truck being quickest early on with a speed of 182.852mph but Travis Kvapil, the 2003 Truck Series champion who is subbing for John Wes Townley in the #05 truck, went top soon after with a speed of 184.280mph.

German Quiroga was the first driver to take advantage of the draft around this two mile oval and went fastest with a speed of 184.876mph in the #77 after five minutes of the session.

Defending champion in the Truck Series, Matt Crafton in the #88 truck, had some right rear fender damage after getting loose on his first run out and clipping the outside wall.

With a quarter of the session in the books Quiroga, Sauter, Kvapil, Hornoday and Wallace Jr made up the top five on the board.

Joe Nemechek in the #8 truck was the second driver to pick up a tire rub but his was on the left rear after contact with another truck out on track during his first run.

Kyle Busch and team mate Wallace Jr linked up with 25 minutes gone and stormed to the top of the charts. Busch posted a speed of 186.485mph whilst Wallace Jr posted a 186.384mph to go 1-2.

At the half way point Busch, Wallace Jr, Quiroga, Kvapil and Maslam made up the top five speeds and times as 25 trucks had posted a lap.

Busch added insult to injury to his competitors as he came to the garage area and told his team that the #51 truck was too tight and needed to be changed, so Busch may go quicker in the next session and in qualifying tomorrow.

Dillon was into the top five in 3rd with 20 minutes to go in the #20 truck with a speed of 185.123mph.

The red flag was displayed just after for the #08 truck of Jimmy Weller having a motor issue on track and leaking fluids in turn four.

But the green flag was back out just five minutes later with 15 minutes to go and there was a big rush of trucks onto the track which made for some interesting practice for the final 12 minutes.

Firstly Sauter went into 3rd with a speed of 185.893mph on his first lap around, then Diloon went back to 3rd with a 186.302mph in the same pack of trucks the second time around.

With just eight minutes to go Dillon was up a further spot to 2nd to split the Kyle Busch Motorsports drivers with a speed of 186.466mph.

Norm Benning, the wonder story of last years MudSummer Classic at Eldora Speedway, had a penalty carried over from Pocono Raceway when there as use of an improper air gun on pit road, this meant he couldn't go on tack until 5 to go in the session.

Benning in the #6 truck went to 26th on his first and only run out on the two mile oval of Michigan International Speedway.

With five minutes to go Busch, Dillon, Wallace Jr, Sauter and Peters made up the top five on the chart and that was the way it stayed until the red flag was shown to signal the end of the session for the Trucks.
