Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch in the #54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry grabbed the Coors Light Pole Award for tonight's NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The highest ranking Nationwide Series driver will be Points leader Chase Elliott in the #9 car who will start in 4th with Sadler in the #11 behind him.

Erik Jones making his first Nationwide Series start at Bristol, after proving himself in the Camping World Truck Series, will start in a very impressive 6th.

The first of the two knock-out rounds of qualifying started with a 30 minute session and Carl along in the #13 was the first out onto the track and posted a 16.20. Sprint Cup Series rookie Kyle Larson in the #42 went to the top of the board after three minutes with a 15.47 as fellow Cup Series driver Kevin Harvick in the #5 went 6th with a 16.05 and was reporting a loose car.

After five minutes Larson, Cole Conley in the #33, Dylan Kwasniewski in the #31, Matt Dibenedetto in the #40 and Ryan Reed in the #16 were the top five as 21 cars had been on track and Timmy Hill in the #87 was on the bubble in 12th.

There was a new name at the top with seven minutes gone when Erik Jones in the #20, making his first start in the Nationwide Series, went quickest with a 14.25. After ten minutes the red flag was displayed when Long in the #13 spun off turn two and hit the back of Hermie Sadler’s #19 car as he was coming to pit road.

The red flag was out for two minutes as Sadler went to the garage area to get repairs and Chris Buescher, last week’s winner at Mid-Ohio, in the #60 went 12th. Points leader and rookie Chase Elliott in the #9 went quickest with a 15.40 with 18 minutes left and Elliott Sadler in the #11 went 2nd with a 15.41.

At the half way point Elliott, Sadler, Jones, Larson and Reed made up the top five with Harvick on the bubble in 12th. Trevor Bayne in the #6 went to 6th with 12 minutes left in round one with a 15.52 to put Brendan Gaughan in the #62 on the bubble.

With ten minutes to go, Kyle Busch made his first run in the #54 and put a 15.38 on the board to go top of the pile.

There was trouble for Landon Cassill in the #01 at the same point as he got into the outside wall coming off turn two. Milka Duno who was looking to make her first start in the Nationwide Series had run 37 laps by this point and was only 45th and would not make the show at this point with seven minutes to go.

With only five minutes left in round one Busch, Elliott, Sadler, Scott and Jones were the top five as Conley in the #33 was on the bubble. There were no changes within the top 12 in the last five minutes as tires were getting old as drivers ran more laps.

Top 12 to advance: Busch, Elliott, Sadler, Scott, Jones, Gaughan, Larson, Dillon, Bayne, Smith, Blaney and Conley.

Big names to miss out on round two were Harvick in 13th, J.Buescher 16th, Reed in 19th and C.Buescher in 23rd.

With a field of 40 cars in a Nationwide Series race and 45 drivers in the qualifying session, five drivers missed the cut for the race tonight: Duno, Cope, Long, Ellis and Fraum.

The second and final round was ten minutes in length and was a battle for the Coors Light Pole Award for the top 12 drivers who advanced.

Round two began with Bayne in the #6 posting a 16.06 on his first run, but wasn't quickest for long as Larson went top after two minutes in the #42 with a 15.44. Busch went to the pole spot with a 15.33 in the #54 after three minutes had gone on the clock.

At the half way point Busch, Blaney, Larson, Elliott and Jones made up the top five as 11 of the 12 cars had made a run on track. Sadler in the #11 went to 5th on his second run on track with a 15.45 as the last driver to make a run, Gaughan in the #62, went 11th but had trouble on the second lap when he got loose off turn four and just saved the car.

With two minutes to go, Dillon and Elliott were back on the track to try and make a run for the pole but Elliott didn't improve and Dillon moved up one spot to 7th in the #3.

But no one else was able to move position in the last minute and Busch grabbed the Coors Light Pole Award for tonight's Food City 300 at 7:30pm ET.
