Brad Keselowski earned his 31st victory in the NASCAR Nationwide Series after holding off fellow Sprint Cup Series drivers Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth after a restart with 20 laps to go.

Many people thought this race would be the Brad and Kyle show, but it certainly wasn't, as they both had to fight hard for their 1-2 finish on the 1.5 mile track.

Keselowski told ESPN reported Vince Welsh after the race in Victory Lane: "I felt early in the race we were playing defense, just waiting to see who would be the next driver to blow a tire and I thought it was going to be a long night.

"But the team did a great job and I'm just glad to be part of this team with Roger Penske as the owner and Jeremy Bullins as the crew chief."

Nationwide Series rookie Chase Elliott extended his points lead over Regan Smith after he came home in 8th and Smith came home in 11th.

The race started with a bang just after the green flag was displayed as Chris Buescher in the #60 and Ryan Reed in the #16 both spun their tires causing a pile up at the back.

Those drivers spinning the tires resulted in JJ Yeley in the #28 getting turned around by Tanner Berryhill in the #17 and it tightened up at the back of the pack.

A total of nine care were involved in the wreck after just 300 yards of the race were completed, including Jeffrey Earnhardt in the #4 and Corey Lajoie in the #98 who was making just his second start in the Nationwide Series.

Seven of the nine cars involved in that first wreck had to retire their cars from the race before they had even turned a lap around the 1.5 mile track.

The next restart was better and everyone made it around on lap 6 when the green flag was back out again.

Lap 11 saw the first lead change of the race when Sprint Cup Series Chase driver Kenseth in the #20 passed rookie and points leader Elliott in the Napa #9 car going into turn one.

Shortly after, at lap 15, Smith in the #7 car who sat 38 points behind Elliott in the standings before the race reported to his team that it felt as if something was broken on the #7 and he fell back to 29th at the end of the lap.

Luckily for Smith the second caution was shown a lap later when Cale Conley in the #33 blew a right front tire and hit the outside wall coming into turn four.

Elliott and Smith both pitted under the caution which looked like a mistake for the rookie as he fell from 2nd to 19th in the running order for the next restart. For Smith it was discovered that he had a one inch hole in his right front tire.

At the quarter way mark of lap 50 in the race the top three spots were made up with Sprint Cup Series drivers, Kenseth, Kyle Larson and Busch.

Rookie Elliott was the highest Nationwide driver in 4th, as he had rallied back from pitting under caution and Ty Dillon in the #3 rounded out the top five as there were still 33 cars in the race despite the very early crash.

The other Sprint Cup driver in the race, Brad Keselowski driving the #22, pitted on lap 56 after he had a right front tire issue on the previous lap and hit the outside wall into turn one.

Green flag pit stops began on lap 58 when Alex Bowman, driving the #5 for Jr Motorsports, pitted from 6th as Busch's #54 team found an unwinding tire when they took off his tires during his pit stop.

At the same time rookie Dillon in the #3 had issues as he radioed in that he had a tire going down but couldn't keep it out of the wall before pitting on lap 59.

Points leader Elliott assumed the lead on lap 63 when the rest of the leaders pitted for the first time in the race.

The third yellow flag of the race was displayed on lap 67 for debris on the back stretch and the four lead lap cars pitted, which were the four drivers who pitted under the second yellow.

The latest restart came on lap 74 with Elliott back out front, but a lap later there was the second bit wreck of the race.

Dillon in the #3, who had to start at the back after getting the wave around under the last caution went four wide through the tri-oval but got clipped by Eric McClure in the #14 who reported having a tire going down after the incident.

Conley, James Buescher in the #99, McClure, Dillon, Carlos Contreras in the #23, Dakoda Armstrong in the #43 and Jamie Dick in the #55 were also involved in the wreck.

NASCAR threw the red flag after the wreck and brought the field to a stop on the back stretch for just over seven minutes to allow the safety crews to clean up the cars on the front stretch.

After his earlier troubles in the race Smith in the #7 was the leader when the race got restarted on lap 80.

But Elliott was soon back to the lead after a side-by-side battle between himself and Smith for three laps before the rookie finally prevailed to go to the top spot in the #9.

At the half way point of lap 100 points leader Elliott continued to lead the field as Smith, Busch, Keselowski and Larson rounded out the top five.

There were only 16 cars on the lead lap and just 26 on the track, but 27 still in the race as Derrick Cope in the #70 was in the garage area getting repairs to an issue.

The fifth yellow of the race was out on lap 113 for debris somewhere on the race track, this meant all of the leaders pitted for four tires and Elliott won the race off pit road to keep the lead from Keselowski in the #22.

When the next restart came on lap 120 Elliott and Keselowski made up the front row, but Elliott wasn't in the number one spot for long.

One lap later Busch in the #54 got a big run through the tri-oval and went from the high side of the track to the low side in one sweeping move to pass both Elliott and Keselowki.

But at lap 132 Kesleowski became the latest leader of the race when he passed Busch going into turn four and opened up a gap pretty quickly in the #22 machine.

There was another caution at lap 138 when Chad Boat in the #84, who was running in 17th, got into the wall coming into the tri-oval causing damage on the right hand side of the car.

All of the leaders pitted under the sixth yellow and Elliott won the race off pit road after taking just two tires and was followed by rookie Ryan Sieg in the #39 who opted for fuel only.

When the race restarted Sieg in 2nd spun the tires as he hadn't changed them which allowed Elliott Sadler in the #11 to go three wide into turn one.

Shortly after at lap 147 Busch in the #54 was back on point as he went to the inside of Elliott into turn one and made a good, clean pass on the rookie.

At the three quarter way mark Busch lead from Elliott, Keselowski, Larson and Kenseth who rounded out the top five as there were 19 cars on the lead lap and still 28 cars in the race despit the two big crashes.

Lap 151 saw Elliott made his first mistake when he clipped the wall going into the tri-oval and over the next five laps fell back to 6th place and was told by his spotter to not overdrive the car.

The seventh caution of the race was thrown at lap 167 for a sway bar that had come out of the #55 car of Dick a few laps prior to the yellow and was lying just below the racing line on the back stretch.

Differing strategies on pit road under the caution saw Brendan Gaughan in the #62 go to the point for the first time as he and Ryan Blaney in the Team Penske #12 both took just two tires.

Lap 173 saw the latest restart and it was one of the best in the entire race as Sieg spun the tires in 2nd and went backwards.

Keselowski went three wide into turn one as Busch tried to dive to Blaneys inside going into the first turn.

As they came onto lap 174 they were three wide out of turn four as Larson went high outside Gaughan which made him get loose and go back to 13th after starting in 1st.

It was Gaughan who was involved in the eigth caution at lap 177 when Sieg in the #39 got into the back of him to send him sideways which resulted in Ross Chastain in the #80 to spin sideways and collect the #98 of Lajoie who had recovered from the accident on the first lap.

Just 20 laps remained when the restart came and Blaney in the #12 was the leader and held it from team mate Keselowski in the #22 and began to build a gap out front as points leader Elliott was battling for 10th.

With 14 laps to go Blaney got loose coming out of turn two which allowed Keselowski to get a run on him and go to the point on the back stretch.

Keselowski still held the lead with only ten laps to go as Busch, Blaney, Kenseth and Larson made up the top five with C.Buescher in 6th being the highest placed full-time Nationwide Series driver.

For the last ten laps Busch and Kenseth tried to reel in the driver of the #22 car but he held on to take another victory in the Nationwide Series.

The drivers take a well earned two week break now after a string of 18 consecutive races in the series before they go to Texas Motor Speedway on November 1st with only three races left in the 2014 season.
